Grope For Luna
Sometimes people ask me for advice. They say hey!… Frankie…In this crazy, complicated, mixed up world in which we live in, what can I do to better myself and those around me?
What I just came up with now are two things that are easy to do, and that people have been doing since the dawn of time! Let’s have a quick look at where they intersect. In this, what I call, 10 amazing songs that talk about the moon. (in no particular phases).
1. Stand By Me
Ben E. King
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we’ll see
No I won’t be afraid, no I won’t be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
2. Bark at the Moon
Ozzy
Then when hes found who hes looking for
Listen in awe and youll hear him
Bark at the moon
3. Dancing in the Moonlight
King Harvest
We get in on most every night
when that moon is big and bright
it’s a supernatural delight
everybody’s dancing in the moonlight
4.New Moon on Monday
Duran Duran
New moon on Monday
and a firedance through the night
I stayed the cold day
with a lonely satellite
5. Nilsson
The Moonbeam Song
Or on a fence with bits of crap
Around its bottom
Blown there by a windbeam
Who searches for a moonbeam
6. Tonight You Belong to Me
Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters
Way down, by the stream
How sweet it would seem
Once more just to dream
in the moonlight
7.Pixies
Subbacultcha
what you call it
when you look at the sky in a poetic kind of way
you know when you grope for luna.
8. Joan Baez
Diamonds and Rust
Well I’ll be damned
Here comes your ghost again
But that’s not unusual
It’s just that the moon is full
and you happened to call
9. Moonlight Sonata
Ludwig Van Beethoven
10. Anything Keith Moon played on.
I know there are many more out there, and if anyone reading this has a favorite, please let me know.
Now get your butt outside (pun most definitely intended). Strap on your walkman, IPod or Zune, put on a good mix and contemplate the moon.
